Artist Biography



Noted for her photographs of the Women’s Movement in the 1970’s, Marilyn Schwartz was one of the few selected artists to work with the Cultural Council Foundation on their federally-sponsored arts project in the late 70’s. She also had assignments with MS Magazine, New York Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Houghton Mifflin, etc. She also produced many diverse photo essays. Among them were series on Westbeth artists, Fantasy, Halloween, NY Trap Rock barges on the Hudson. During this period she developed an interest in collage which continues to this day and as evolved into collage-painting of brilliant jewel-like images.
