PETER KOPF

The works are square, symmetrical canvases. Typically, horizontal bands change as they pass through a diagonal interface, like a prism. They deal with color and qualities of light.

Small differences in chroma, saturation and value are important, as well as different kinds of glass and matt qualities of light. Edges are important. Hard edge is juxtaposed against soft edge. A variety of very specific materials are employed: Acrylic, latex, pumice-stone powder, ground pigments, gloss and matt mediums and sprays, and graphite powder all contribute to the optical sensations.
