Brenda Horowitz, a visual artist residing at Westbeth since 1970, has been showing her work in New York, Massachusetts, California, and many other places since 1964. She has had 26 solo shows and participated in numerous group shows. In 1998, her gouaches were in "Landscapes of the Mind" at Mt. San Jacinto College Museum curated by Lucinda Luvaas to positive reviews.

For her show at Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown, MA, Cate McQuaid wrote in the Living Arts in the BOSTON GLOBE, 1996, "Brenda Horowitz's acrylic and gouache paintings burn with intense colors applied in sheer planes that confront you like the noonday sun as they drop into furrowed fiery sand and grass. The artist creates a rhythm of hot and cool colors as well as a rhythm of textures - metal smooth intercut with the buzz of deft brushwork. The result is breathless and ripe, more like a dream of summer than summer itself."

Horowitz's work is in hundreds of private as well as corporate collections, including American Express, Colgate, Guy Carpenter, General Mills, and others. Ms. Horowitz received her undergraduate degree and her Master's in Art Ed at City University, NYC. She studied art at Cooper Union and with Hans Hofmann in New York and Provincetown.

Ms. Horowitz is married to Paul Horowitz, a retired Supervisor of Performing Arts and has three grown children.
